Yep Stuart, dead set it's a wooden wedge alright. It'll get us started while we save up for a 'proper' one.
It's mounted on a concrete pier and works ok but getting a reasonable alignment is a chore.
I wood recommend it on budget but I wooden recommend it as a lifelong committment :>)

Last week I built a wooden wedge, got polar aligned, learnt how to use guiding software, stayed up late and this is the result, M42. Film just came alive for me.
But where to from here... how does anyone even start to do processing in photo shop etc?
