It's been awhile since I've posted anything new. Here's a
couple from my last adventure to the San Mateo Mountains in the Cibolla
National Forest of New Mexico, 30 miles just about due south of the VLA
near Socorro. These were taken almost three months ago in December,
and unfortunately I haven't been able to get out since then. Let's
hope the next couple of months go better. It's been some time since I
did any processing, and I don't know how the color balance might look to
you, so feel free to comment, tinker, etc.
First up is a grouping of
Barnard objects in Cepheus, NE of IC1396. I noticed this area on a
wide-field shot and thought I try to home in on some this stuff with a
longer focal length instrument. This is a 70 minute single frame on
E200, pushed one stop, using the Pentax 67 and TMB152 at f/7.9.
There's faint emission nebulosity all over this part of the sky. http://home.datawest.net/jkolb/barnard169-170_TMB152.htm
Finally
I got a half-way decent image of IC1805. Same gear and exposure. I've
always had trouble framing this shot, and this attempt is my best
to date. There is very little cropping on this one, since the
composition fills almost the entire frame. http://home.datawest.net/jkolb/ic1805_TMB152.htm
A
new widefield is in the works, and maybe, finally, a new M42
composite. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
