Thanks Carlos. The haloing is an artifact of the softB Hoya filter I used and is in all the filtered shots I've done. Actually show up less on this image than on others. I'd like to find a filter that doesn't halo but diffuses about the same amount. Any suggestions?
I processed and combined (standard registration and average median combine in Registar) the 2 unfiltered shots and then processed the filtered shot differently to try to get the diffused effect on the bright stars to look asthetic. Then registered/combined that with the other combined image. Iterated a couple of times with processing on the filtered shot and level I combined it at till I liked the result.

Looks really good, but some stars have a very weird
halo. How did you combine the filtered image with the
others?
