I checked the 6x7 under a microscope today and under super high mag it 
pretty much looks exactly like the scan, a bit out of focus.  I'll try 
scanning some sharp terrestrial shots as well as a dollar bill to check 
the focus. I thnk the Kodak photo CD looks better because the folks that 
scan it may have gotten a bit aggresive and removed the low level.  I 
did check the M42 on a CRT montor and it looks like I took to much of 
the blue out, I should have left the automatic setting go.  Thanks Bobby 
and Duncan for the help, I'll try to get it together here and post when 
the pics are sharp.  But I think also my 6x7 focus needs a little help.
