[APML] Nikon F3T and f/2.8 180ED
Hi everyone,
Well, I got everything all set up last night under clear skies, sat down for my
first exposure of the evening with my "trusty" old OM-1 and... crunch. The
film advance mechanism is broke. I consulted a professional at my camera shop,
and his expert opinion was that it was, um, broke.
So, my decision to move to Nikon so I can share lenses with the wife was
accelerated. I decided to buy a used F3T, I hope it was the right choice. I
also convinced my wife that a great lens for us to "share" would be a used
Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 ED. I've heard so many great things about this lens, I
can't wait to try it out.
I'd greatly appreciate any tips from F3 owners.. like what's the deal with the
"T" setting? Is it purely mechanical? Is flicking it over to B or X the only
way to release the shutter? (I don't have the manual, unfortunately)
And 180ED owners.. is it good wide open? Or is f/4 a better choice? I do a
fair amount of daytime photography too, so I was considering a teleconverter..
how is it with a 2x?
Thanks!
EZB
