I'm pretty sure you don't need to touch the mirror. Are you using a
non-standard (i.e., higher profile) T-ring? What SLR are you using?
Is is one of the usual ones? Are you sure that your film plane isn't
so far behind that you cannot reach focus even with a standard T-ring.
Try borrowing an OM-1 with a standard T-ring and test to see if you
still cannot reach focus.
If your SLR is not the problem, your T-ring might be. You might
consider getting the Direct-Wide Photo adapter for this scope. It has
a lower profile and has a wider mouth that (almost) eliminates the
vignetting you get with a standard T-ring. The photo adapter also
lets you easily adjust the camera angle. An accessory well worth it's
cost, IMO.
