Re: [APML] May Lunar eclipse camera?

Whoa! Are we talking about the same John Mirtle? I have had only one
successful run at a lunar eclipse, it was that dark one in 1993.
http://members.shaw.ca/jmirtle/leclipse.htm I generally have pretty rotten
luck with exposing anything under 30 seconds or so! The multiple
exposure/eclipse shot is a pretty neat idea. I have seen it done before, but
I can't remember who did it or what the exposure details were. You have 6
weeks or so to practice up and find the "perfect" exposure.
George, if you saw my equipment you would want to keep all your kids! I
still have only one mount (#2 on the way soon!) and it is now in it's 17th
year of service! No go-to, no stepper motors, no azimuth adjust, no polar
scope, just a big fat Mathis gear and lots of mass! My Newtonians are all
home made, and my Schmidt is bolted to a piece of ply-wood! Hopefully the
aurora is on the downslope now for another 8-9 years - I would like to get
some work done.
Thanks for the vote of confidence guys, and that's a neat double
exposure Geoff!

Geoff
Please don't put John in the same class as me (and I mean this most
respectfully) you are really lowering his stature.
I am a cheapskate bodge type boffin who is plagued with horrible
weather, John is an excellent astrophotographer with equipment I would
sell my third child (we are stopping at two) to own who is plagued with
auroral glow for two years out of every eleven.
