Re: [APML] GM-8; will a relay box be needed?

Alan,

Below is from the FAQ on the SBIG site, and suggusts you do need a relay
box:
...............

Do I need a relay box to use an SBIG autoguider with my mount?
It depends. The relay box provides a mechanically isolated interface to your
telescope mount electronics. If you are using the ST-4 or STV, then you do
not need a relay box with any mount since both of those cameras already use
internal mechanical relays.

Some mounts like the Losmandy G8 and G11 series have known electronic
incompatibilities with the solid state relays used in other SBIG cameras. A
relay box is highly recommended if you are using any of those cameras with a
Losmandy mount to prevent damage to the mount electronics, especially if you
are running the camera and mount off a battery.

Most other mounts will work fine without the relay box, as always check with
other users on the SBIG mailing list or contact SBIG if you have any
specific questions about your equipment. However, if there is any doubt at
all it is probably better to use the relay box and play it safe.
