RE: [APML] APML New software
Georgia gets all the nice weather, and then sends the rest East to South
Carolina... that is until the moon is up.

Hey George...
It's been over 70* F and sunny to partly cloudly here in Atl. GA
the past
couple... how is the weather in 'The Great White North' treatin' ya
these days?
Despite their ad claims, they're not the first to support 16 bits
in all
operations... the latest version of Picture Window Pro, 3.1h has been
doing
this for more than a year. Granted, PW Pro doesn't have 'Layers' dialog,
but
using the 'Masks' and 'Composite' together can do similar tasks. The
actual 'Masks' themselves are generated in 8 bits, but since they're B&W
I
don't think it matters... the color stays 16 bits through out. In fact,
I found
that by re-sizing to web friendly dimensions in 48 bits, then converting
to 24
bits for JPEG file storage gives a little better results than converting
to 24
bits at an earlier stage... I now stay in 48 bit mode till I'm
completely
finished.
The PictureMan app seems comprehensive and elaborate, with more
functions
than PW Pro... and 48 bit support that Photoshop 7 doesn't offer. Let us
know
if you do the trial version.
Best...
