I asked this same question on the SBIG group in January. The replies
got me to narrow the field to the 237a AND the ST-7i. I then decided to
go with the 237a. However, a recent ad from Anacortes on Astromrt
indicating that the ST-7i is on sale for $1199 got me to change my
mind. This is a largely stripped down version, it does have the 'E'
chip, but no extra guiding chip. My plan is to use the large chip to
guide my film images, and then if I'm ever ready to move into CCD I
already have a good starter set. At that price it can't be ignored as
an autoguider. Mine arrived yesterday and I'm wrestling with the
laptop, new camera and software now.
