 Hey Jerry...

I've done the monitor calibration per PW Pro, sometime back... it seems
OK... I found the Adobe Gamma program, in Control Panel on my machine. I've got
to do my homework before I implement that. The critical stuff is set up right.
(brightness/contrast, color temp/white point etc.)

The image I've been having problems with just seemed to show the final
curves adjustments in Photoshop only... this is indeed the case. I've been
working it in 16 bits, and it was my understanding that the 'Layers'
adjustments were 8 bit only... when I click on 'Layers' in the menu bar, the
commands are greyed out. BUT... in the 'Layers' pallette there's a small
thumbnail that appears to be the un-curved image and the title 'Background'...
also, the padlock icon shows 'Indicates layer is partially locked' when moused
over. The 'Flatten' command is inactive... how do I apply my 'Curves'
adjustments? Any idea what I did wrong to have the curves in the 'Layer'
pallette to start with? I didn't intentionally try to use 'Layers'... I thought
I was using basic functions, Image - Histogram, Image - Adjustments - Levels,
Curves... but now its 'Locked' in the 'Layers' pallette... dump it out and
start over?

 Thanks In Advance...

 Geoff Powers

PS... (I'm on the notification list for your book... I'm sure gonna' need it!)
