Well, misery loves company and it sure feels good to not be alone :-/
My wife an I plan outings once a month, corresponding to the new moon,
to get out of NYC. The weekend of March 1, we couldn't get out of
town, so we went this past weekend. The Clear Sky Clock forecast good
conditions starting at 9 PM and by midnight it was to be 100% clear,
above average transparency, but below average seeing. I'm doing
constellation portraits, so I didn't care about the seeing. After a
3-hour drive, and getting the kids to bed, it was nearly midnight, the
skies looks good, I carefully set up everything, loaded all four
cameras and started my polar alignment. It was 1:15 AM. At 1:25, a
couple of stray clouds floated through. At 1:27, the sky disappeared.
I waited half an hour, and threw a tarp over everything. My last good
night was also in December.
Hope if gets better for you, too.
regards,
roland
