RE: [APML] Another M42 - again
Beautiful image, Clay!
You've captured so much more detail in the body of M42 than I got with
my recent 45 + 5 minute image. I'm assuming it has more to do with to
the number of different exposures you combined than the filter you used
(someone please correct me if that's not true.)
I'm definitely going back to fill in some missing exposures...
Thanks for sharing,
Dave

Subject: [APML] Another M42 - again
I have been reading the discussions about Steve's wonderful M42 with a
great
deal of interest. I have been using the suggestions made to him to
process
this M42 that I took mainly last Sunday night. I took all of these
shots
through a Lumicon Deep Sky filter and I was amazed at how much color
shift
that I got. I have been struggling to correct this color shift and have
made some progress - but not enough. Do any of you have a standardized
"correction" formula that you use to correct for shooting through this
kind
of filter? Perhaps the final answer is to get the IDAS filter which, I
understand, does not inject such a radical color shift. The shot can be
found here:

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions.
Thanks
