Re: [APML] OT: Canon vs Epson clogging

Hello Steve, Rick, Alan, Robert, Gedas and others:

Thanks to all who have made comments on the Epson clogging problem.
Actually, I already was aware of it and would instead like a fast, photo
quality printer that ill not clog even if used infrequently. That is why I
asked about the Canon Bubble Jet s820 printer. Apparently, this printer is
fast and of high quality, but I do not know if it has a clogging problem
like the Epson. Unfortunately, most reviews do not cover future problems
and this is why I directed my question toward the APML. I was hoping that
someone had first hand experience with the Canon s820. From the review
listed below, it appears that the Canon s820 is of high quality and the
printer heads can be replaced by the user (unlike the Epson). However,
there is no mention of the presence or absence of clogging in the review:

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_reviews/canon_s820_pg4.html#conclusion

" ... The print head assembly can be replaced by the user which eliminates
the need to send the printer in for service in the event of a failure or
major clog. The driver maintenance options include both a head cleaning
cycle and an alignment procedure to keep your printing as perfect as
possible.
The print quality is outstanding, especially considering that it outputs a
full page 8.5 x 11 inch print at the highest quality possible in about two
minutes. The same photo print takes about seven and a half minutes on the
Epson 890 printer. The prints are very comparable to those made on an Epson
photo printer at 1440dpi (microweave on and high speed off)...".
