Re: [APML] OT: Sprintscan 35ES
That's interesting - I also didn't know the original driver was still
available. This is the one I still use with my SS35 Plus. I did some
comparisons a while ago and it produced better results all round than the
Polacolor Insight. Insight is intended to be "easier to use" and it seems
to be aimed more at the novice but it is not so comprehensive and does not
give as much control over the scan. Also there is no exposure control as
there is with the original driver.
If anyone is interested look to where it says: Legacy Software ..
SprintScan Twain Driver Version 2.7.2. Although it says Twain Driver it is
in fact a fully featured scanner application. Notice that in the readme it
says:
"This SprintScan legacy software might provide better results (compared to
PolaColor Insight) when scanning dark images
or underexposed film."
i.e. better for astrophotos. In fact I found it better for everything.
