For those of you who have absolutely nothing to do... I posted my second attempt at taking a CCD shot of M-51.
I discovered the linearity of the CCD is phenomenal... in the raw image there is detail from the core to the outer arms. Getting this to show is another matter... I used PS to combine the various elements of this image. Again, this was taken under a blazing, almost full moon... it was a lovely Sierra night... only this time instead of grumbling about the moon being up, I was out shooting... for what it's worth...
