Matt asked you a number of questions that will help narrow the problem,
but I would look first at those Losmandy Rings. I have personally had
problems with heavier 'scopes moving in them over time. I suspect that
it is the material they use on the tips as the rings seem rigid enough.
My choice with such a relatively heavy guidescope is to either:
1) Just bolt it in place with the tube holders. The 'scope
is big enough that a suitable guidestar should be
in the field with minimal offset.
2) Put a metal ring around the Traveler to protect its finish
and remove the tips off of the DR125 set screws.
3) Fabricate your own alt-az adjustable mounting. There was
a posting several months ago about a very good and
relatively simple design. Perhaps someone else kept
a link to that page.
