While your visionary comments did raise a giggle in me, the great pity 
is that the Hubble _will_ be junked years before its successor (JWST) is 
launched. This is bad news for us pros (I've used archival HST data 
extensively for research). But I guess it will leave a gap in the market 
for the best ground-based facilities, especially those using adaptive 
optics.
