[APML] New Software: Auto Histograms
Hi all
I'm proud to introduce my first C++ application: Auto Histograms.
AutoH is a command line software (MS-DOS), that automatizes the task we ussually do to adjust the histogram of a image:
- AutoClipping: You select a fraction of the pixels to be clipped, at each side, and the software searches for the clipping value that matches that, and is applied to the image.
- Backgroung brightness: becouse in most of the astronomical images the background is pure sky, the median of the image is a good estimator of its mean value. So, AutoH looks for a gama adjustment that turns the median of the image into a user defined value. That way, we can easily color balance our images and set the background's overall brightness. Of course that further processing with curves is needed to the rest of the image.
You can download it (yes, its free!) from:
AutoH was made using the PixInsight Class Library, wich will be freelly avalaible to PixInsight STD's users. Thank you very much Juan for your help and this creation.
Well, suggestions, critics, and any feedback is highly wellcome. I'd like to see how a raw CCD image looks like after AutoH!
Regards,
Carlos Milovic F.
