Thanks Ernie, if I can get a clear night I'm going to do some testing, moon
or not.

Filter Question
Gary,
I own a couple of IDAS filters, and my
understanding is that they block the transmission of selected wavelengths
of light pollution "noise", but admit as much natural light of the visible
spectrum as possible.
If you use one during moonlit nights,
you'll still block the light pollution noise, but it will have no effect on
the moonlight, which is reflected natural light of the visible spectrum.
So an IDAS filter may present some advantage if you are making
time exposures on nights when the moon is not yet full, but, at some
point, the growing moon will swamp the light pollution and the IDAS filter
will have little effect.

Filter Question
Hello, My filter arrived today. I opted for the 48mm
and a step-down ring for my 105mm Nikon lens. I went with the 48mm so I can
use it for prime focus in my Lumicon Easy Guider. I realize I will probably
get some vignetting but I think the scope needs the filter worse than the
lens. My question is to those of you using this filter. How does it do
in combating Moon glow. Since we've had crap weather for several weeks
and the forecast is the same for the next week, I (hopefully) will
be testing it in the next couple of weeks. Just wondering if it will
be worth my time to give it a run with moonglow present (provided I
even get a clear night)?
Thanks in advance!
Gary
