Re: [APML] (OT) String theory?

Hi Alan,
I saw that show and found it quite interesting.  The idea of 11 dimensions is pretty mind boggling in itself, but the possibility of the Big Bang occurring due to 2 members of one of these dimensions colliding into each other is very heavy indeed.  When you think about it though, provided you can accept 11 dimensions, it makes a plausible hypothesis.  Since there has been no other real scientific theory for the "reason" the Big Bang occurred, maybe this is the first step in understanding the existence of the universe we live in.  I find it easier to accept the fact that time existed past, and thus before the singularity, than just saying time started with the Big Bang.  It would make more sense that time has always existed.  Now you have the basis for the "parallel universes" theory.  If you can accept all of this, then the possibility of parallel universes would also make sense.  If we can't accept this, we are back at square 1 trying to explain why our "Big Bang" was the only Big Bang.  Maybe one day we'll know for sure...only Time will tell!
