Subject: [APML] Orion Mosaic (finally done)
Hi everyone,
Sorry I have not been too active on this list lately. Just started work
at a new company so my time for imaging has suffered somewhat.
I did manage to complete an Orion mosaic that I imaged the past winter.
This is a 12 frame mosaic on 120 E200 each frame is a composit of one 60
min (no filter) and one 90 min. ( Lumicon Deep Sky Filter). Each frame
coveres 6 x 7 degrees of sky. Adjacent frames were made with about 1
degree of overlap.
The 10 nights and 30 plus hours of imaging over a period of 2 months
was the easy part. The image processing was by far the most work and time.
This is a reduced resolution jpg of the final image. The full res tiff
is 48" x 52" at 300 dpi

here is how the image was constructed
