Jason,

Sounds like you may have grabbed a null modem cable.  If you have a multi
meter check to see that all the pins are straight through.

I am having problems connecting to my ST-4 with
a Dell D800 laptop. The serial port works fine
becuase I use it to talk to telecopes, etc.
If I ty to connect to the ST-4 it won't find
it no matter what I set the baud rate to. I have
also tried playing with the com1 settings.

HOWEVER, If I first connect to the ST4 with
my home desktop, then move the connector to
the laptop without powering down the ST4 it
finds it and will grab images, etc. If I
power cycle the ST4 at that point it looses
it again.

Any ideas?
