Re: [APML] Southern Milky Way mosaic
Thanks everyone for the compliments!
Wei-Hao, I had an easy case with this one. Because of the excellent
site, I had no sky background gradient to fix. Also because the Borg
100ED and Planet Town camera combo, I had no vignetting to fix either.
To answer Scott's question, I first balanced the color of each frame as
closely as I could in Photoshop in 16-bit mode. I then registered the
frames using Registar. After that I combined them in Photoshop (8-bit
mode), doing very minor color tweaks and feathering frame edges. So the
answer is that I only used Registar to align the frames.
As for going south again, certainly I'd like to do that but I don't have
any definite plans at the moment. I actually did not plan to create a
mosaic until I was nearly done with my shots. Consequently I didn't get
proper coverage and I ended up cropping more off than I would have liked
to get a rectangular image. For this mosaic I used 5 frames + 2
additional frames which served only to fill in some narrow gaps in the
primary 5 frames.
