What happened is that this was a star party that our club puts on for
the campers at a state park about 50 miles from here. The park gives us
about 4 free sites and the skies are really nice, basically, we're
representatives of the park. One of our club members brought his
fiancee and her 2 kids along, and they expected to be able to do all
things that campers usually get to do; fires, flashlights, lanterns,
etc... They even brought a dog that as expected, barked at at the
people moving around in the dark. The ranger came by and asked that the
dog be 'put up'. They put it off for awhile, but a little after
midnight on Friday, up flamed their campfire so they could make s'mores
for the kids. By Saturday night, these people felt so picked on that
they left, in the process, repeatedly flashing headlights at us (from
75 feet away), leaving bright lanterns on for hours, having a 12" LX200
fall off the hand dolly he was using to get it back to his vehicle
because he was too drunk. They confronted other campers with foul
language, it was a complete nightmare and I hope to never witness that
kind of behavior again. Plus, we had another member playing with his
camera in the middle of the scope field. Obviously, we need to work on
education a bit. Throw in the fact that a gopher ate through one of the
ST-4 wires and you can see that it truly was a wonderful, fun-filled
experience.

Thanks guys,
Alan
