The result of an exposure with a standard 180mm  photolens and a  CCD-camera, situaeted in the low-cost range,  surprised  us.  Compare the picture http://www.astrostudio.at/Astrofotos/aufnahme.php?a_id=299&page=1&kategorie=&k_id=

of the dust clouds in the constellation of  Corona Australis with an AAT- picture of the same field: http://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/AAO/images/captions/uks037.html

You can size up the AAT-picture and find detail and colors, but some years ago, when I was capturing pictures on traditionally way on film this compare was out of range.
