RE: [APML] NGC7000 with a false comet !

Weird one Dom.
Generally with a Schmidt you see a very different kind of
reflection. Bright light usually bounces off the film, off the primary, off
the corrector plate, back to the primary and back to the film. This produces
a strange "pincushion" shape, opposite of centre to the bright star in the
image. For an example, look at http://www.robertreeves.com/repair1.htm -
last image on the page. Not sure what you have Dom! The lack of density
along the left edge of the picture is also unusual.

Dominic,
I am sure Robert Reeves or Chris Schur or other Schmidt expert will help. I
guess it is something like the film holder or edge of mirror or something
just off the mirror's edge. Perhaps the only remedy is to keep bright stars
from near the edge. I hope you can find a way to minimize the reflection
without worrying about bright stars on the edge.
I will watch this discussion as it unfolds.

Best regards,

Hi Jeff !

I realy dont know , that's why I ask the question.

Is it because the stars is very bright and  was too close of the edge ?
I'm not sure but I realy dont know !
