RE: [APML] Re: End of Film? (was: New Kodak Ultra Color Negative Film)
Richard, our Walmart in Payson here has a bigger than ever photo section,
the new digital printers are now in high demand for printing chemical prints
from digital files. People are discovering I'm told that the ink jets
prints which last less than a year from most printers are making people
flock to the chemical print stations for permanent prints.

At the closest Walmart the processing machine is gone and the photo section
is all magazines and birthday cards. Photography is one corner of the
boombox section.

I had a eye opening experience at Wally World last week. I always cruise by
the film counter on my way to the digital cameras. To my astonishment the
film counter usually has at least a dozen different films/speeds, singles
packs, dual packs, quad packs etc, as well as the three major brands,
Kodak,Fuji,Polaroid, had Fuji 400 singles ONLY............... According to
the clerk they would not be restocking due to the interest in Digital
Cameras. I can only find local film at the high end photo supplies for $12+
per 24 roll.
So I cruised into RiteAid, only to repeat the above story............
Any suggestions on film purchases??
Film may be closer to being gone than we have imagined........

Yes, and if major retailers quit selling film, how much longer before they
quit processing it, too? Not very long, I'd wager.
