RE: [APML] The Atmosphere of Venus

The images are really very nice.  I agree with Chris that it may be an
optical phenomena.  I am basing that on the APOD that shows the
atmosphere through the 1 meter scope at La Palma.  It looks like a very
small feature to capture and I am not sure the optics you used are
capable of resolving that feature.  Maybe so, just my .02.  Great images
and glad you had nice weather.

Jerry, Your Venus transit images are stunning to say the least.  I'm not
entirely convinced however you got the atmosphere of Venus in that one
shot
however.  At first appearance, It looks to me like some sort of fringing
you'd expect from a refractive optical system.  the shots of the
atmosphere
Ive seen show it as more of a light band around the outside of the disk.
But being the seeing in the daytime is relatively poor, it may be really
hard to see the difference between an atmosphere and fringing.  Ill give
you
the benefit of the doubt.  ;)
