RE: [APML] [OT] full frame DSLR

Hello Wei-Hao,
I think the Canon's have long been regarded as excellent with regards to
low noise. My brief experience with the Canon 10D has shown the trouble
with amplifier glow. I think this is the biggest culprit to getting
evenly illuminated backgrounds without clipping the data. I could be
wrong, but I believe the only full frame camera for Nikon is the Kodak
DCS 14n. Online noise tests at Luminous-Landscape have generally shown
the Canon CMOS to be cleaner at the higher end of the ISO range than the
CCD chips in the Nikon. I wish I had a full frame DSLR to share my
experiences with you:-) Here is the info:

Subject: [APML] [OT] full frame DSLR

Hi,

A professor in our institute came to me and asked for advise on

Among those full-frame DSLRs (EOS 1D Mark II, EOS 1Ds, Nikon D...?),
which one is best for long exposure? He doesn't care much about
H-alpha sensitivity. He will use this camera to evaluate the
light pollution in Hawaii. (Yes, we do have light pollution.)

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Wei-Hao
