RE: [APML] Cheap fun - 100F and a tripod
I'll have to agree about the travel times. I'm in the outer suburbs of
Chicago, and 30 seconds @ f/2.8, ISO 400 is about all my sky
transparency/sky glow allows. Lately, the problem is mostly transparency,
tho. Today's ClearSkyClock is showing the first good transparency forecast
in months; we're usually opaque or one step better.

I gotta laugh.... I'm considering how much it cost to get out of
Dodge City and travel to California so you could take these
"inexpensive" images. After dialing in travel and related expenses
they are probably $500 images...each!
But then its only a hobby, eh? I once figured up how much each of
the images I have taken with my Schmidt camera cost. Each chip
of film used per image averaged about 40 cents, give or take a bit.
But the overall cost per expsoure was more like $20 each after
all costs were dialed in, including building the remote observatory
and travel costs to and from it.
