Re: [APML] Astrophotography 2004 - Price Shock Horror

Chris,

I share your sentiments and your pain. As a relative newcomer myself to
this I am often shocked at the price tags attatched to some of the
*must haves* that are flaunted monthly in the two most popular journals
available. But the images that you produce are yours. Nobody else takes
them. Others have brought up some good points here as well but rest
assured that I enjoy viewing your images and occasionally when the
weather cooperates opening a shutter myself. It is certainly true that
any images that I produce cannot stand up to those produced by others
but then again my entire setup didn't cost as much as a CCD/ Filter
Wheel set-up. I have to be content to make the best of what I have
knowing full well that I am disadvantaged by the equipment that I have.
But that doesn't keep it from being an enjoyable hobby. I like film.
Even if I won the lottery tomorrow, while I could certainly fullfill
some new equipment yearnings, there would still be a camera attached -
at prime focus.

Keep the Faith

Regards

Bill
