Are you planning on doing any Tech Pan?

Thanks for the comments Chris. When I bought the Pentax 6x7 the seller offered me the film for a small additional charge. He had told me that it was once regarded as good astro-film, but it is eight years old but been stored in the freezer.

I think maybe a bit of terrestrial photography may be in order. Besides I got a really nice Pentax Takkunar lens with the camera, so why not?

Richard -

Wow, you still have some HG400.  I thought this film could only be found in the astro film "hall of fame".<g>  I shot it hypered back in the early '90's but have since lost the hypering times/pressure.  I bet Tony has a formula somewhere.  It was a great film but like Don mentioned, it might be a bit too old and laced with cosmic ray hits etc.... the grain structure might also have suffered.  Hard to tell unless you shoot it and find out.  Nothing to lose except a roll and a few hours of sky time.......

Let us know how it works out.

When I bought the 180 scope, I also ordered and received from AP the field flattener for it. The field flattener is designed to mate directly to a Pentax 6x7 camera. So I had to get one of them. Now i have this camera and a bunch of rolls of Fuji Super HG 400 that has been frozen for a number of years.

Questions:
1) is that film any good if it is still usable?
2) is film that has been frozen for eight years worth exposing?
3) is it worth hypering this film?

I was hoping to do some widefield work in Antares and some of the other bright areas of the sky using FILM and think the 6x7 format maybe just the ticket.

The Pentax looks to be in fine condition and has a lot of nice accessories with it. Hopefull I can get something useful done with it. Otherwise it goes to Ebay or Astromart....
