Here's a portion of a Auravision Customer Service response...joe  :)

We have received numerous requests for astronomers for red illumination.
This is one of the colors we plan to release in the future. Current versions
are not equipped with a dimmer switch, however new versions have a sleep
circuit which turns off the illumination after about 15 minutes of non-use.
We are considering a dimmer switch for future releases
