This more-less fits with my experiences doing piggy back shots. My
dark-sky location has a ZLM of 6.0--6.5 and shots high in the sky at
f/4 for 40 minutes produce a pleasant deep-gray backgound on the
slide. Shots I took last year at the Summer Star Party (near
Pittsfield, MA) were 30 minutes at f/2.8 and had a similar background.
Those times and f-stops are in the same range as your 5-10 minutes at
f/1.5.

roland
