Please pardon the CCD intrusion, but I thought I'd follow up
on this thread.
In general I think that most folks underexpose globulars.
They are really much, much bigger than generally
represented, as you demonstrated. I recently shot M13 also
and though ten minutes or so of luminance would have
sufficed, I went 150 minutes. Here is the result:
