As a veteran of a number of solar eclipse cruises I can tell you that
even in the calmest waters with the best stabilization it will be very
tough to get a *sharp* image at any exposure longer than about 1/8
sec. Even then you have to wait until you are at the top or bottom of
the motion and take the image at that "motionless" instant. I have
taken longer exposures than that but they are decidedly soft -
certainly no good for sharp star images.
