It's called "Rock & Roll" and it isn't music.
Even if there was a dark location on the ship, you'd have to contend with the
movement of the ship. Most cruise ships cruise at night and the movement,
although minimized by the newest anti-rolling technology will seriously "trail"
long exposure images. Some people have photographed solar eclipses from cruise
ships but the exposures are short, like 2-3 seconds up to 1/1000 sec. which is
fine.
I'd suggest taking a nice pair of binoculars and use one of those deck chairs.
