are really identical (Firmware, optics..)?

Did anybody have the chance to test the Artixscan with astro- images?
How did it perform?

Since the Artixscan doesn't seem to have a glass film holder,
here is a third question to the users of the SS 120:
Is the glass holder really necessary when scanning medium format?
