Chris,
Now hear this, now hear
this... after trying film again for small objects, it became INSTANTLY obvious
that a CCD kicks films butt... it's not even close! When I compared a film
shot of M101 with the ones I did with the ST-10 I wondered if it was even the
same telescope that took the pictures!
I did sell the ST-10 to
my close friend Bill Williams who wanted to image with it, but I use it in the
summer and early Fall when he can't because of the oppressive heat and
humidity of southern FLA ... in about half a year I am teaming up with my
friend Bob Fera to build an observatory on his ridge where the seeing is
better than at mine... it will be my scope with his 1200 GOTO and his ST-10...
but the bottom line is that for small objects, a CCD is far superior to film
both in sensitivity and resolution... sorry, but them's the facts. If I could
not team up with a friend, I would buy another one ...
And having company is great...
there have been confirmed mountain lion sightings behind my house lately... I
feel like a giant steak walking from the house to the observatory... major
flashlight and gun environment...
Tony
