A dog of anykind will usually deter all but the diseased and starving animal
Trixi has alerted me several times to things that go (Snarle) in the night.

Tony,

Yes, that is right. She was jogging and came upon the worst possible situation with one of these animals. This happened not too far from where I am. The nearby Mt Laguna visitors center has a medium sized lion stuffed right above the information counter. I hear all types of sounds in the evening. Usually it's just a deer.

Loke,

The only person to be killed in these parts was a woman jogging by herself early in the morning who was attacked by two females with cubs. When I walk off my deck towards the observatory I shine a flashlight around and look for any eyes reflecting back at me... it's spooky here at 2 AM... it's a BIG forest out there behind my house... the night belongs to Charlie...

Anyway... I just can't get the "big steak" idea out of my head... one of those cats is so fast and powerful they could be on me before I even knew what happened... that's why I carry the gun... small comfort but it would probably stop the attack. Thankfully these giant cats operate out of stealth... and usually avoid humans... usually...

     Tony
