I have a Nikon 180 f/2.8
ED lens that for all basic purposes is apochromatic... especially stopped down
to f/11 where it will have to be to reduce the moonlight so that I can get a 20
minute exposure. Yes... what I plan to do is shoot an RGB image just like
through the scope... dark frames, flat fields... median combines... everything
that I normally do that might affect the outcome of the color data. The test
object will be the Kodak 21 step tablet... if ANYTHING is out of whack this will
show it instantly... I have a lot of experience with this sensitive test... just
need Steve Mandell's adapter so I can use the lens. One can go on forever with
these tests... but if my results show clean color and density from the
highlights to the shadows... I'll be a happy camper.
