Scott,
You need to go here and heed all warnings,

There are all sorts of ways to take pictures of the sun with smaller lens,
but with 600mm you MUST NOT look through the view finder at the image, for
you could certainly sustain perminate blindness. PLEASE read the warnings
and seek other advise on this matter.
