Re: [APML] Guiding system recommendations

Hi Alan:
Not sure what your question is. You seem to have all the components you
need. Make sure everything is rigid, rigid, rigid. I'm not familiar with a
"Guide Star system" other than the Hubble list of guide stars. That's
irrelevant because all you want is a star that's bright enough to see
clearly and close enough (within a degree or two) to your target. You have
to find that star visually since you're doing visual guiding. I've guided on
a star that was only visible by averted vision and that was miserable!
Adjust your reticle cross-hairs to the guidestar and guide away! It helps to
keep the reticle brightness low in order to see the star more easily. Try to
avoid over-correcting. (Make sure you're sitting or standing in a
comfortable position and have tried out the directional movements you need
with the keypad buttons before you start the exposure. Oh, yeah, it helps to
make a pit stop first also (;-))). (Sure love my ST-4!)
