Mark,

Checked the Superior Electric site and reached a dead end just as 
you did Mark. I was in the AC motor section at the time I hit the 
404 error so probably at same location you were.

Didn't mean to mislead you but sure sounded like a synchronous geared 
motor and not a stepper. Possibly is and has a built in capacitor that
went bad in which an external cap might be worth a try. (Only problem 
is that the detents you describe have me scratching my balding head).

Would like to know the outcome. Never too old to learn in my case (I
hope).
