Just wanted to mention two things for new ST4 users, so they won't get
as frustrated as I did (please forgive my lack of terminology skills
when it comes to things that have wires sticking out of them).

I do not recommend using a portable 12V battery pack to power both the
ST4 and your drive. The ST4 doesn't respond. Worse yet, at least in the
case of the GM8 (and apparently the CG11), your run the risk of blowing
a circuit in your mount controls (which I did). SBIG confirmed this to
me by telephone, but unfortunately after the fact. They sell a relay
box, which is expensive, so I now power my equipment using separate 12v
batteries.

Secondly, I hooked up extension cords from my car battery to power the
ST4. It didn't work. The unit will only respond with the original wire
plugged in to my cigarette lighter. It may be a question of too much
resistance built up and not enough amperage going through a longer wire.
