That's useful to know. It's good to hear that Canon still has a
camera suitable for astrophotography.
I have to confess that I've not understood some of the choices
Canon made in the EF cameras. The predecessors to the EOS-1 (the
F-1 and F-1n) were solid, do-anything workhorse cameras, with all
the features a professional might need: solid metal body,
interchangeable finders, mirror lock-up, interchangeable backs,
etc. The EOS-1, while certainly a very capable camera, doesn't
seem to be aimed at the F-1 market at all. It has no
interchangeable finder, for instance, a feature that is necessary
for many kinds of professional photography.
I always assumed the EOS-1 was aimed at the same folks who
previously used F-1s, but when I was looking for a replacement
for my F-1 the EOS-1 didn't seem to be designed as a replacement
for the F-1. Any insights on Canon's thinking on this?
