[APML]: Re: Good Camera Body For Beginner?

The Astro-Photography Mailing List
------------------------------------

I have used a Pentax K1000 for a couple years and it has been
very reliable, have gotten lots good pictures of both piggyback and prime
focus pictures
It has a good reputation from what I hear, also less expensive then the
others mentioned
here so far. One problem - they dont make 'em anymore, so good luck finding
one used,
people do tend to hold on to them. There's a new clone of the K1000 called a

Kalimar K90 that I have not seen, it has a price (new) of just over $100.
I'd be willing
to bet this camera may be all you need to start out.

A couple of disadvantages to the K1000, it cant take double exposures (i.e.
for
lunar eclipses) and the focus screen cant be replaced with something
brighter.
So I am now looking for a second camera body that is all manual that also can
do these
things. Any suggestions? Thanks -

BERT
