Tom,The Nikon, in my opinion, would be the better camera, for two
reasons:
1. The F3 would be the better choice due to the titanium shutter
curtains. A majority of 35 mm camera shutters are cloth. Should you
accidentally touch these cloth curtains, then you stand a good chance to
ruin the whole shutter system. The F3 shutter curtain is metal, and not
so prone to damage.
2. The accessories for the F3 far out-number the accessories for the
OM-1, in availability.
In my opinion, the F3 would be a better choice.
I once had a friend tell me that when you get into photography, you can
go about spending the money in one of two ways. You can take a lot of
money at once, or a little bit at a time. In this case, go with a lot of
money at once, on the F3.
Peace!!!!!!!!!
