Re: [APML]: [APML] GM-8 Polar Alignment Scope

------------------------------------

There are at least two versions of the polar alignment scope for the
Celestron-Losmandy G-8 and G-11 mounts. I obtained one version when I acquired
my G-11 mount in 1996 and it had "Place Polaris Here" on the reticle. This
version is the 'problem' version as the sky-star image can never be aligned
with the reticle markings due to the fact that the magnification is slightly
off. The other version does not have the "Place Polaris Here" on the reticle
and the magnification is correct.
I contacted Celestron when I discovered the problem and they confirmed this
was the case. At that time Celestron was out of stock of any alignment scopes
but help work out a return through a dealer who had them in stock. It was a
case of poor manufacturing on the part of the supplier.
